Following the road from Bicaz to the viaduct at Poiana Teiului (800 m in length) and going on to Piatra Teiului ( a rock that rises solitarily from the water-20 m tall), you can get in Ceahlau commune, where one may see the ruins of the Cnejilor Palace (17th century) from Schit village. This is an old boyar yard, restored by the Cantacuzinos.
In its vicinity, Durau resort lies (820 m in altitude), resort that belongs to the same commune. Hotels, mansions, modern chalets assure you an excellent place for rest and relaxation in every season of the year you desire. The visitors of the resort have restaurants, bars, saunas, plants baths, sport playgrounds, skiing and sledging slopes at their disposal.
Inside the resort, there is a historic monument built in 1835 by the educated man Veniamin Costache, with mural paintings, realized by N. Tonitza in 1935. Durau resort has become in the last years the most frequent departure spot for the wanderings through Ceahlau Mountains. On mountain roads, you can easily get to Duruitoarea waterfall or to the “Fantanele” chalets (situated at the altitude of 1240 m) and “Dochia” chalets (situated at the altitude of 1870 m).
