Situated in South-West side if the country, on one and the other side of Cerna river, Baile Herculane, reach till the Dormogled mountains’s foot, natural reservation famous for its various and rich flore.
The station, that has been attested for the first time in 1825, it the oldest and with the richest historical past from all the Romanian stations.

Baile Herculane it is at a 160 metres hight and because of some characteristics of the relief, it enjoys of a mild clement, with Mediterranean shades. The temperature registeres yearly +9,3 degrees. The winds are weak, and few precipitations. Soft winters, early and short springs and cool summers.The cloudiness being reduced, the sunny days starting march and carry on untill late in october.

A peculiarity of the Baile Herculane climate is the negative aero-ionization with biological effects, favourable over the organism.
Because of the high level of thermals and minerals, the physiological action of the Herculane’s waters is very complex and the therapeutical value is rised. The thermal water’s temperature changes between 41 and 60 degrees. They are sulphurous, calcious, chlorine-sodious, magnesic, oligomatic, hipotone.
The variate landscape, the flore and the rich fauna, the pleasant climate, the pitoresque surroundings make from Baile Herculane a favourite place for holidays, refreshments, active rest.

The station museum exhibits documents, the history of Baile Herculane and of the surrondings, votive stones, numismatic stones etc.

Each year, in august, tourists are invitated to “Hercules Folklore Festival” - a parade of costumes, singings and Romanian dancing, outcome of the imagination, fantasy and mastership of our popular artists.
